Literature Text

How do you control the masses
Keep them uneducated and afraid
Overload them with advertisements
Create a society of wage slaves

Be sure they stay divided
and animosity reigns true
Character defined by the size of your wallet
God bless the Red, White and Blue

Kardashian's worth millions
Famous for sucking dick
Are you liberal, youre a socialist
Fuck the poor, weak and sick

And these  millennium kids,
OWS, Generation Y
Labeled selfish and lazy
For no longer believing the lies

They've watched as the elderly
Lost their homes to taxation
After laying down their lives
To defend and build a once great nation

Underground there is rumbling
A revolution seeking truth
No longer will we settle
To be American Eweth
venting

I would favorite this poem considering it has sentiments I agree with. I agree that the mainstream media is controlling Americans and keeping them brainwashed and subservient to their masters. However, everything else I find off.

For starters, there is no such thing as a wage slave. It’s an oxymoron. Slaves don’t earn wages. That’s why they’re called slaves. They work against their will and are unable to own anything. Working at Wal-Mart for minimum wage may not be fun, but it’s not the same as being a slave. You still have a say in your work, and if you don’t like it, you have a choice not to work there. Using the term wage slaves only degrades the plight of real slaves.

Not all liberals are socialists, but most socialists are liberal. The paradigm being used by the left is that of class struggle, the haves versus the have nots, the rich versus the poor, the 1 percent versus the 99 percent. That may not be socialism, per say, but it is Marxism by definition. That’s why people accuse those who use such rhetoric as waging class warfare.

And can we please stop pretending that people are against helping the poor and needy. You will never hear anyone claim such a position. At all. We all want to help the less fortunate. We simply disagree with how to go about doing it. For me, I feel the best way to help them is to give them jobs so they can maintain their own lives. There’s an old saying: “Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man a fish, he eats for a lifetime.” Giving people handouts will only help them temporarily, but teaching them the skills to help themselves will help them in the long run. That is what I think we should focus on.
